Lifeguard Position

The City of Brentwood Parks and Recreation Department is looking for highly motivated people who will rise to the challenge of protecting and educating their community through lifeguard services. If you have experience with kids, are a confident swimmer, like working outdoors and you want to obtain a higher knowledge of CPR and First Aid this is the job for you. This is a part-time position and hours may vary. This position requires possession of an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification at time of hire. You may take an American Red Cross Lifeguard class through Parks and Recreation. Classes are offered as follows:

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the tenth (10th) grade.
Experience: None required.
License/Certificate: Possession of a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification including; First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22), Administering Emergency Oxygen, Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Auto-Injector, Blood borne Pathogens, and Asthma Inhaler Training, at time of hire, to be maintained throughout employment.

Review of applications for minimum qualifications for the position and to ensure all materials have been submitted.
Department Interview - Applicants possessing these requirements may be invited to interview with the Parks and Recreation Department. The interview will cover elements of the knowledge and abilities identified in the job description.
Pre-Employment - Applicants who are offered a job will be required to pass a TB and HepB screening through their doctor and will be fingerprinted through the City.
Onboarding - Applicants who have passed all of the pre-employment requirements will then be given an official start date.
