Turner Staffing Group is seeking a
Project Engineer / Project Manager
with a
mechanical engineering background
to support a variety of capital, maintenance, and upgrade projects at an active mining operation in the Winnemucca, Nevada area.
This role is ideal for an engineer who can
bridge technical execution and project management , working across multiple projects ranging from equipment installations to facility upgrades. You’ll be involved in projects from early planning through execution, working closely with engineering teams, field personnel, and stakeholders.
Position Overview
This position supports a diverse portfolio of projects across a large mining operation, including
new construction, equipment upgrades, and maintenance initiatives . You will play a key role in coordinating project activities, supporting engineering design, and ensuring successful project delivery.
The role combines
hands-on fieldwork, engineering support, and project coordination , making it ideal for someone who enjoys both technical and operational responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Work
Perform engineering analysis related to
mechanical systems, equipment, and infrastructure
Review and support development of
mechanical drawings, layouts, piping systems, and P&IDs
Conduct field inspections, site assessments, and equipment evaluations
Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and operational issues
Project Management & Coordination
Support and/or lead
project planning, scheduling, and execution
Track project progress, budgets, and deliverables
Assist with development of scopes of work, cost estimates, and project plans
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare technical reports, engineering summaries, and project documentation
Maintain project records, schedules, and tracking systems
Support proposal development, RFQs/RFPs, and scope definition
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering or related field
5+ years of relevant experience
in mining, heavy industrial, manufacturing, or energy environments
Experience supporting or managing
capital or maintenance projects
Strong understanding of
mechanical systems, equipment, and piping
Ability to read and interpret
engineering drawings and P&IDs
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work onsite in an active mining environment
Must be authorized to work in the United States without work visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in
project management or project engineering roles
Experience with
AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD tools
Experience working on
mining or heavy industrial projects
Familiarity with project tracking tools and scheduling systems

6-month contract with strong likelihood of extension
Per diem: $60/day for eligible candidates
Company-provided lodging available
