Position Summary
The Associate Technician is responsible for the set‑up, operation, and basic maintenance of equipment within the assigned area for work tasks in the surface or finish portions of lab production.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Perform various tasks of area production machine functions, including interpretation of Rx work tickets, operations on specified equipment, and routine maintenance.
Perform basic/routine maintenance of assigned equipment and troubleshoot mal‑functioning equipment, advising the supervisor of possible remedies.
Specific tasks include lens wash, equipment set‑up for daily production, equipment clean‑up at day’s end, preparing necessary solutions or slurry mixtures for lens production, and ensuring sufficient supplies.
Perform daily and weekly calibration of equipment as directed by area supervisor and in accordance with established procedures.
Communicate effectively with all levels of the laboratory to assure understanding and proper application of company policies, practices, and procedures.
Maintain work area and common areas in a neat, clean, and organized condition.
Understand and follow all company and laboratory policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with attendance and safety rules and maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information.
Cooperate with other employees, demonstrate a good attitude, and perform an acceptable quantity and quality of work on time.
Provide proper training, direction, and technical guidance for less experienced employees and attend training meetings when necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
This position requires exposure to one or more hazardous substances/chemicals and requires safety training.
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
Ability to multi-task, attention to detail, and operate in a fast‑paced environment.
Basic high‑school level math skills.
Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
