Graphic Design Manager
The Graphic Design Manager oversees all visual communications for Lincoln Land Community College, serving as the steward of the college’s brand and visual identity. This role ensures a high standard of professional quality, creativity and consistency across all printed and digital materials used to advertise, promote and identify the college.
Responsibilities
Partner with the Chief Communications Officer and Advertising Manager to conceptualize college advertising campaigns and ensure all promotional and recruitment materials receive required review and proofing prior to publication.
Hold primary responsibility for design, production, and production coordination of advertising and marketing materials, including print, digital and broadcast media, with priority given to items intended to increase applications and enrollment.
Design and layout major publications of the college, such as the Forward magazine, annual report and viewbook, invitations, programs, flyers, postcards and other publications.
Produce signs, posters, banners and other promotional items.
Oversee the college’s digital asset management system for photography and video, ensuring proper organization, metadata, version control, archiving and accessibility of visual media assets.
Manage the organization, storage and maintenance of design layout files, templates and source documents to ensure accuracy, efficiency, brand consistency and long‑term usability.
Oversee, mentor and coordinate work assignments with the Graphic and Website Coordinator and Visual Media Specialist.
Ensure all digital and print design work meets applicable accessibility standards by applying inclusive design principles and collaborating with communications and web teams to support ADA‑ and WCAG‑compliant visual communications.
Provide backup support for photography and video shoots as needed, supplementing the work of the Visual Media Specialist when primary coverage is unavailable or additional assistance is required.
Meet with clients to discuss their needs and formulate the best course of action in developing, designing and producing publications or promotional pieces.
Manage image assets and provide consulting services for signage, design and production of environmental graphics while keeping the College Identity Standards Manual and Style Guide updated.
Coordinate and manage production services, including printing, signage, display and specialty vendors.
Create vector art, logos, key art and cover art.
Verify digital files are production‑ready (fonts, graphics, text, layout, resolution) before printing, publication or online distribution, performing press checks at printing companies when necessary.
Produce signed, sealed and framed official proclamations, resolutions and certificates on behalf of the college.
Assist in the college planning and assessment program by developing annual work unit objectives that impact long‑range priority goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in art, graphic design or related field.
Five years related experience.
Proficiency with Macs and Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat.
Ability to stay current with the latest graphic and layout software.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Premiere and Canva.
Familiarity with a digital asset management system and digital accessibility.
Ongoing professional development in graphic design and marketing trends.
Benefits
Starting salary is likely to be between $64,946 and $86,943 per year, with an excellent benefits package. Employees receive 23 paid holidays per year, two weeks at the end of the calendar year and one week in March for mid‑semester break, 12 Fridays off in summer, two personal days, 15 sick days and starting with 15 vacation days per year. Staff, spouse and qualified dependent children may use the tuition waiver on credited courses, and free access to the on‑campus fitness center is available.
