Managing Editor - North American Whitetail

As the Managing Editor of North American Whitetail, you will oversee the department editing and associated correspondence for the Florida Sportsman Magazine. Examples of work performed include managing field editors, receiving copy by monthly deadline and readying it for print, identifying and developing new field editors as needed, serving as the editorial department point of contact for the digital editor and social media manager, attending industry functions as needed, and contributing monthly feature articles to the magazine and special interest publications.
Working conditions and physical demands include typical office conditions, travel required, and working in a fishing/boating environment at times. The Stuart, FL office operates from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday, with potential for remote/work-from-home schedules for candidates with demonstrated experience.
Qualifications include a minimum BS/BA degree in a relevant field, preferably in English or Journalism, with strong writing skills being more important than the subject. Competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities include aptitude with still photography and basic video, strong competency with Mac OS and MS Office, familiarity with Adobe In-Design, knowledge of fishing, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate professionalism.
