Position Summary
The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest academic unit at UNC‑Chapel Hill, with more than 1,000 faculty members and over 20,000 students. In partnership with the University Communications and Marketing department, the Public Communications Specialist will manage the College’s social media channels, creating original content, and ensuring a cohesive message strategy. The role includes producing photos, videos, and graphics, maintaining a social media calendar, tracking and analyzing post performance, and adjusting strategy accordingly. The specialist will also assist the Associate Dean for Communications with internal and executive communications initiatives, media‑relations planning and outreach, project management, and strategic communication planning across the College.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the assignment area or an equivalent combination of training and experience from an appropriately accredited institution.
Preferred Experience
Experience in a relevant professional setting
Ability to create photos and videos
Experience creating graphics
Experience tracking social media metrics
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Evening work occasionally
Weekend work occasionally
