PufCreativ is an award-winning, full-service cannabis marketing agency based in Denver, Colorado. For nearly a decade, the team has helped some of the most recognizable brands in cannabis build their identity, grow their audience, and tell their story. From local dispensaries to national MSOs, PufCreativ delivers strategy, branding, content, SEO, web design, photography, video, and digital marketing with heart, purpose, and serious creative chops.

Founded by CEO John Shute and Creative Director Shamus Lahman, PufCreativ has earned top industry honors including the EMJAY International Cannabis Marketing “Branding and Marketing Agency of the Year” award (2023), two CLIO Awards (2023), and ADCANN's “Agency of the Year” title twice. John has been named “Marketer of the Year” by ADCANN and “CEO of the Year” by CEO Monthly. The agency is community-focused and believes that cannabis marketing should shape culture and make the industry better.

The PufCreativ team is about 20+ strong and growing, with dedicated departments spanning design, development, SEO, copywriting, social media, photography, video, and business development. Content is a huge part of the work, and the writing team produces a high volume of blogs, website copy, email campaigns, social media content, brand messaging, and PR materials for clients across the cannabis and hemp industries.

The Role
PufCreativ is looking for a Editor (Contract/Part-Time) to join the team on a contract basis. This role supports the writing team by providing editorial oversight across all content streams. You'll be the last set of eyes before client-facing content goes out the door, making sure everything is polished, consistent, on-brand, and free of errors.

The ideal candidate has a strong command of AI tools, content strategy, and modern writing best practices, along with the ability to step into content creation projects as needed and support day-to-day editorial workflows. This person should feel confident writing and refining brand book copy, shaping messaging and tone, and maintaining consistency across all written content. This role will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief to help guide editorial direction, support creative execution, and uphold quality and brand standards across both client and internal projects.

This is a flexible, remote contractor position. You'll collaborate closely with the Editor-in-Chief and the broader creative team to maintain quality across a growing volume of deliverables.

What You'll Do

Edit and proofread blog posts, website copy, email campaigns, social media content, brand messaging, and PR materials for grammar, clarity, tone, and accuracy

Ensure consistency in voice and style across multiple client brands and content types

Fact-check claims, data points, and industry-specific references (especially cannabis compliance and regulatory language)

Provide constructive feedback to writers that strengthens their work and builds their skills over time

Collaborate with the content team on editorial standards, style guides, and brand voice documentation

Flag content that may raise compliance concerns related to cannabis advertising regulations

Support SEO content by reviewing keyword integration, meta descriptions, and on-page copy for readability and optimization

Manage turnaround on edits within established timelines to keep projects moving

What You Bring

5+ years of professional editing or copyediting experience (agency experience strongly preferred)

Exceptional command of grammar, punctuation, AP style, and editorial best practices

Ability to adapt to and maintain multiple brand voices across diverse clients

Strong understanding of SEO content principles (keyword integration, readability, meta optimization)

Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a high volume of deliverables

Excellent communication skills and the ability to give clear, kind, actionable feedback

Reliable, self-directed, and organized with strong time management

Strong command of AI tools and best practices, with the ability to use AI strategically to improve efficiency, streamline workflows, support decision-making, and enhance overall work quality while maintaining accuracy and human judgment.

Bonus Points

Experience in the cannabis or hemp industry

Familiarity with cannabis advertising compliance and platform-specific content restrictions

Background in content marketing, journalism, or brand copywriting

Experience with project management tools like Productive, Asana, or similar

Knowledge of WordPress, CMS platforms, or content publishing workflows
