Seeking an excellent writer and content creator to join our friendly and hardworking Communications Office. The communications manager at Crossroads School reports to the director of communications & community relations within the School’s Advancement Office. Works closely with the assistant director of digital services; colleagues in Advancement and the Office of Admission and Affordability; and faculty/staff throughout the School on various communications and marketing projects. The ideal candidate is creative and personable, adept at working both independently and collaboratively. Responsible for sharing the story of our unique, joyful, progressive K-12 school with constituents including current parents, prospective families and donors through a variety of print and digital communications.
Serve as a co-editor and write for Cross Sections magazine, published annually.
● Serve as point-person for three weekly parent newsletters, soliciting, organizing and editing content. Occasionally update newsletters in Blackbaud via simple coding. (In collaboration with Development staff, create content for Annual Giving and capital campaign fundraising programs, including e-blasts, appeal letters, brochures and acknowledgement letters.
● Create and edit content for the Office of Admission and Affordability, including videos (mostly outsourced), e-blasts and postcards.
● Edit and proofread collateral and other materials from K-12 colleagues.
● Oversee the online school store, working with the vendor/designer to offer new spirit wear several times a year and occasionally troubleshooting issues that may arise.
● Establish an editorial calendar for website news stories and social media posts and serve as the main content creator for both.
● Edit/create content for the School website as needed.
● Take photos and simple videos for the website/social media.
● Exceptionally strong writing and proofreading skills are an absolute must.
● Experience with CMS systems, Google Workspace, AI tools and social media platforms.
● Ability to shape and articulate a compelling case for financial support.
● Ability to manage multiple projects.
● Special skills in photography, video filming/editing, and graphic design a plus.
● Bachelor’s degree.
