Are you a Control Design Engineer who enjoys designing systems, solving problems, and seeing projects through from concept to completion?
We’re working with a well-established and growing engineering business looking to add an Control Design Engineer to their team. This is a role where you’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality control systems while helping drive innovation, efficiency, and long-term customer success.
The Role
This position sits at the centre of engineering delivery, combining system design, technical problem-solving, and collaboration across project teams.
You’ll be involved in developing automation solutions from the ground up, working closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure systems are delivered to a high standard and aligned with customer requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and developing control systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS)
- Creating sequences of operation and engineering documentation
- Producing control submittals and selecting components for bill of materials
- Developing electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN
- Collaborating with engineering teams to improve standards and processes
- Supporting project delivery from design through to completion
- Working alongside project managers, field engineers, and technicians
- Assisting with estimating, proposals, and technical sales support
- Re-estimating projects based on engineered solutions
- Supporting project turnover, documentation, and handover processes
- Contributing to continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and delivery
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in automation, controls, or systems engineering
- Strong knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA, or DCS systems
- Ability to create and interpret sequences of operation and technical drawings
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar tools
- Strong understanding of control system design and components
- Good communication skills and ability to work across teams
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- Degree in a technical/engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience
