Assistant Director of Development & Alumni Relations
This position is based in the College of Pharmacy and reports to the Senior Director of Development. The role coordinates, grows, and ensures the success of the College’s annual giving and engagement programs, building relationships among alumni, donors, parents, faculty, staff, and friends to drive philanthropic support. The primary focus is a portfolio of leadership annual giving ($1,500‑$50,000) with metrics on meetings, solicitations, gifts closed, and overall dollars raised. The role includes preparing persuasive materials, documenting interactions in GAIL, managing the College Alumni Board, coordinating alumni events and campus visits, and driving a culture of philanthropy.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications
A background in alumni relations and soliciting gifts is preferred.

Responsibilities

Meet and/or exceed pre-set metrics for meetings with prospective donors, solicitations with emphasis on annual giving ($1,500‑$50,000), gifts closed, and overall dollars raised.

Prepare and deliver engaging gifts appeals, proposals, presentations, and other fundraising materials; document all interactions in GAIL.

Manage a portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects and donors, strengthening relationships and identifying major and planned giving prospects.

Coordinate the College of Pharmacy Alumni Board, plan and execute alumni engagement events, and oversee alumni campus visits.

Plan and manage travel budget, making strategic trips as needed; travel may include overnight trips, out of state, and occasional weekend work.

Attend college events such as the White Coat Ceremony, Pinning Ceremony, Commencement, and Homecoming Reunion Tailgate; collaborate with academic departments, programs, students, and campus partners to provide meaningful engagement.

Work with the Office of Development & Alumni Relations and senior leadership on quarterly prospect management and strategy meetings.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Ability to solve problems and generate creative solutions to strengthen alumni and donor relationships.

Advanced computer literacy; proficient in programs for preparing and disseminating communication materials.

Comfortable interfacing with alumni and donors by phone, virtual, or in person and through written communication.

Strong written communication; ability to prepare and edit effective correspondence, event materials, appeals, and engagement materials.

Strong oral communication; ability to make persuasive presentations.

Collaboration skills; able to work well in a team environment.

High confidentiality and professionalism with ability to maintain privacy.

Prioritization and performance under pressure in a fast‑paced team environment.

Attention to detail; ability to manage multi‑phase projects and balance multiple priorities.

Physical Demands

Standard office environment.

Travel in and out of state.

Driving as needed.

Occasional nights and weekends.

Use of electronic mail, telephone, face‑to‑face discussions, and paper correspondence.

Effective writing, speaking, and listening skills.

Organize and prioritize; multitask; maintain details.

Lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Working Hours & Availability
Typical schedule: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary.
