Key Responsibilities

Support assignment editors, producers, and newsroom leadership with daily political news coverage
Conduct research on political developments, legislation, hearings, elections, and press briefings
Assist in developing story ideas related to national politics, elections, and major political events
Write and edit scripts, copy, rundowns, and basic news content under producer guidance
Monitor news wires, government feeds, press conferences, hearings, and social media for breaking political developments
Assist with production and administrative tasks, including graphics entry, coordination, and newsroom logistics
Learn newsroom systems, political coverage workflows, and live news production best practices
Support breaking news coverage in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism, communications, media studies, or a related field preferred
Previous newsroom or production experience through professional work, internships, or academic programs
Strong writing skills with the ability to clearly and accurately summarize complex topics
Solid understanding of U.S. politics and current events
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
Proactive, curious mindset with a strong desire to learn and grow in news coverage
Ability to work collaboratively in a high-energy newsroom environment
