Communications Intern, Department of Public Lands
Job Description
This role provides paid professional experience for students enrolled in an accredited school program. Interns work under the direction of the Department of Public Lands communications manager and the Communications and Community Engagement team to support a variety of communications initiatives.
Typical Duties
Collaborate with the Communications and Community Engagement team to develop engaging, creative, and informative content.
Assist with graphic design tasks, including signage and outreach materials.
Create compelling social media campaigns aligned with brand guidelines and outreach goals.
Attend community engagement events to generate content for social media and the website.
Support other communications tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrollment in an accredited college or university (summer internships may not require concurrent enrollment if the student is in good standing).
Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Good computer skills.
Working Conditions
Moderate physical effort; comfortable working conditions; handling of light weights.
Intermittent sitting, standing, and walking may be required.
Exposure to computer visual display terminals for extended periods.
Employment Details
Part‑time internship, summer 2026.
20 hours per week; office‑based.
Salary: $18–$20 per hour.
Department: Public Lands.
