Arizona: State Communications Manager Job Description
The State Communications Manager is a member of the CFFE Communications Team who supports the Communications Director. This person’s primary responsibility is implementing the organization’s state-specific communications strategy.
Duties include:
Work with the Communications Director to put CFFE communications strategy for Arizona into action.
Serve as CFFE’s Georgia communications lead.
Draft and implement content calendars for digital and earned media communications.
Monitor current federal and state policy issues that fall within CFFE’s priorities.

Monitor local media coverage related to CFFE’s priorities and prepare memos and talking points for team members.
Provide relevant clips to the Press Secretary for inclusion in daily press clips.
Support the development and distribution of news via websites, newsletters, and other channels of communication.
Draft press releases, media advisories and other content for professional media outlets as assigned.
Draft scripts for and shoot video content using a phone camera or similar technology.
Draft social media posts and other digital content for utilization on social media platforms and channels.
Support the Press Secretary in maintaining a state level media list.
Schedule and staff interviews for spokespersons designated by the Communications Director.
Take photos at events.
Support video shoots, including screening, recruiting, and prepping subjects to participate in video content.
Schedule and host media events, including press conferences, roundtables, and other activities.
Prepare a weekly media contact report.
Other activities as assigned by the Communications Director.
The requirements for the position are:
Work from the Phoenix office. This position is in person.
Ability to professionally work with members of the media and the public.
Capability to competently staff events, interviews, and other activities.
Travel in state from time to time as assigned.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to relevant policies, procedures, legal requirements, and other regulations.
These skills are preferred, but not required:
Experience in the working for a non-profit, government office, or political committee.
Familiarity with government, public policy, and related dynamics in the state.
Working understanding of Adobe, Canva, Microsoft 365, Copilot, Zoom, and other common office software and tech platforms.
