The Social Media & Marketing Manager will lead Indigenous Justice's social media presence. This individual will own and grow our brand's presence across all major platforms. This role is responsible for crafting content, managing post performance, engaging with our audience, and turning data into actionable insights - all while bringing culture and purpose to life and showcasing what makes our organization unique and impactful.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with our brand's goals.
Monitor and analyze social media performance, including reach, engagement, audience growth, and content effectiveness.
Track and report on key digital metrics using platform insights, website analytics, and email marketing data, as applicable.
Create, schedule, and publish original content across social media platforms.
Monitor engagement, respond to comments and messages, and build relationships with followers.
Ensure all communications are accurate, accessible, culturally responsive, and consistent in voice and messaging.
Create marketing materials, event promotions, and outreach strategies to increase participation in annual events.
Provide guidance on in-house graphic design projects using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Canva.
Ensure that all organizational print and digital materials align with branding standards.
Manage the production of promotional materials and liaise with external designers, print vendors, and mail houses as needed.
Write and distribute media releases, ensuring appropriate follow-up to maximize coverage.
Capture high-quality photography for use in social media posts and campaigns.
Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the scope, responsibilities, and level of the position.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in marketing, or related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
3+ years of experience managing social media accounts for a brand preferably a non-profit or tribal organization.
Familiarity with photography techniques and editing software is a plus.
Extensive knowledge of key platforms and their best practices.
Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional public speaking skills and comfort representing the organization.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
Cultural competence and understanding of Native American and Indigenous communities.
Ability to successfully pass a background check.
Possess a valid California driver's license; willingness to travel locally using own transportation to conduct work assignments.
Physical Requirements:
Work is normally performed in an office setting and remotely. This position may require occasional evening and weekend work. Position will routinely have to move and lift up to 25 pounds.
This position is part-time working 20-30 hours weekly with full benefits following 90 days of employment. The position is remote with travel throughout Northern California and the Central Valley to attend sponsored events.
