Lead Window Dispatcher/Scheduler
Transdev in El Cajon, CA is hiring a Lead Dispatcher / Scheduler to intercept customer calls and schedule transportation. We are seeking friendly, customer service‑oriented people who are dedicated to safety.
Salary
$24.50/hr–$30.50/hr

Key Responsibilities
Maintain VDS operator schedules, ensuring accuracy and integrity of all scheduling data, including administration of operator time off, bid processes, and payroll‑related inputs.
Coordinate and oversee the operator bid process.
Assign and delegate projects, tasks, and special assignments as needed.
Collaborate with bus operators, dispatchers, supervisors, and cross‑functional departments to support high‑quality customer service delivery.
Partner with Operations, Human Resources, Safety & Training, and Maintenance to align departmental and organizational goals.
Assist in developing and enforcing procedures, standards, and regulatory compliance to support efficient transit operations.
Establish scheduling priorities and develop methods to complete scheduling projects; analyze routing and scheduling issues and recommend both immediate solutions and long‑term improvements.
Monitor staffing levels and establish driver targets based on service demands and operator availability.
Supervise, train, and support dispatchers, supervisors, and operators as assigned.
Review and approve operator time‑off requests and track short‑and long‑term availability.
Manage operator schedules to minimize overtime while ensuring compliance with meal and rest break requirements and DOT hours‑of‑service regulations.
Provide support for dispatch and road supervision functions as required.
Ensure full schedule compliance and proper route coverage, making real‑time adjustments and work assignments as necessary.
Verify that operators and dispatch staff are fit for duty; take appropriate action when standards are not met.
Monitor operator adherence to pre‑ and post‑trip procedures and recommend corrective action when necessary.
Coordinate with Maintenance to address vehicle breakdowns and operator‑reported fleet concerns; recommend retraining, discipline, or further action as appropriate.
Investigate customer complaints related to operator performance and safety, and recommend corrective actions based on findings.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger endorsement and Air brake endorsement required.
High school diploma or GED required.
2 years reservationist or customer service experience.
Two (2) years’ experience performing dispatch, road supervision, or coordination/planning of transit operations.
Computer literate.
Excellent communication and listening skills.
Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
Work environment will be a combination of both indoors and outdoors.
