Theater Assistant
Assists with the operation of the Theater staff, productions, plays and classes. Works under the general guidance and direction of Theater Supervisor (Manager) Some supervision over volunteers and actors.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Assists with staff and volunteers, assist with analyzing scripts, casting for children's productions, coordinates and teaches classes, coordinates theater summer camps, directs Children's productions, administrative tasks when assigned, special events.
Responsible for marketing and design for classes, programs and performances.
Assist with technical aspects of theatre performances including lights, sound, set construction and backstage.
Assist in department wide events including but not limited to Tree Lighting, Dia de los Muertos, Halloween Carnival and Fourthfest.
Peripheral Duties
May serve on employee committees
Provide assistance and support to other departments on an as needed basis
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Education And Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Theater Arts or Theater experience as noted below
2 years' experience in acting/directing youth and adult preferred
1 year experience teaching at High School level preferred
Marketing, graphic design and film experience preferred
Necessary Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Supplemental Information Specialized Theater School for acting and directing a plus. Tools and equipment used in set construction, typewriter, phone, automobile, and any equipment needed in conjunction with department requirements. Physical demands include sitting, talking or hearing, walking, using hands and arms, lifting up to 25 pounds, and close vision with the ability to adjust focus. Work environment is usually quiet but can be somewhat noisy during set construction and rehearsals.
