Job Summary
The
Marketing Specialist
supports the Humane Rescue Alliance’s mission by executing marketing initiatives that drive engagement, awareness, and program participation. This role is responsible for supporting digital marketing efforts across key channels, including website content, email communications, and social media, while assisting in the coordination of campaigns aligned with organizational priorities. Working collaboratively across departments, the Marketing Specialist helps maintain a consistent brand voice, supports the execution of marketing campaigns, and monitors performance metrics to inform ongoing improvements. This role is focused on implementation, coordination, and content execution to support HRA’s programs, services, and community impact.
The Role: What You’ll Do
Support the execution of marketing campaigns across digital channels, including email, social media, and website content
Assist in maintaining and updating the organization’s marketing calendar in alignment with organizational priorities
Update and manage website content through the CMS, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and user-friendly navigation
Apply basic SEO best practices to digital content to improve search visibility
Support email marketing efforts, including drafting, formatting, and scheduling communications
Monitor campaign performance and compile basic reports on key metrics (e.g., engagement, traffic, email performance)
Assist in the coordination and promotion of organizational events, programs, and initiatives
Ensure all marketing materials align with brand guidelines and organizational messaging
Collaborate with internal teams to gather content and support marketing needs across departments
About You: Skills & Qualifications
Must be able to be onsite 3 days a week in our DC office including offsite events.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
Proficiency in basic digital marketing tools (e.g., email platforms, CMS, social media platforms)
Familiarity with Google Analytics or similar tools is a plus
Collaborative team player with the ability to work cross‑functionally
Passion for HRA’s mission and commitment to supporting the human‑animal bond
Qualifications – Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Minimum 2‑4 years of experience in marketing, communications, or related field
Where You’ll Work: Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This position requires regular on‑site presence at the Washington, DC campus and attendance at external events and meetings as necessary. Hybrid work scheduling is determined in coordination with the Director of Fundraising Campaigns based on departmental and organizational needs.
Regularly sits at a computer station and operates electronic equipment.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of events or media needs.
Ability to perform physical activity associated with event setup and coordination, including lifting, carrying, reaching, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
Comfortable working around cats, dogs, small animals, reptiles, fish, and wildlife.
Due to the nature of shelter work, may be exposed to deceased, fractious, or aggressive animals; common allergens; hostile or irate persons; zoonotic or other diseases; unpleasant noises, odors, or sights; and extreme temperatures.
