Job Summary
The Communications Specialist supports project management and program execution by facilitating clear, timely communication across federal agency teams, partners, and stakeholders. This role develops and disseminates internal and external communications, supports project tracking and reporting, and ensures alignment of messaging across multiple projects and resource areas.

Duration
This role is anticipated to last 6 months, with the possibility of extension pending contract options.
Duties/Responsibilities
Serve as point of contact for district-level project communications and coordination
Support project management activities including intake forms, trackers, and reporting systems
Develop and distribute internal communications (reports, briefings, employee updates, presentations)
Prepare external communication materials for partners, stakeholders, and the public
Coordinate communication across districts, leadership, and program areas
Provide regular updates on project status, milestones, and accomplishments
Support preparation of materials for meetings, workshops, and briefings
Assist with meeting planning, facilitation, and information dissemination
Track, synthesize, and route communications and information requests
Develop content for websites, reports, and outreach materials
Support stakeholder engagement and coordination activities
Maintain communication records, documentation, and reporting tools
Ensure messaging aligns with federal agency policies, branding, and communication standards
Assist with project performance tracking and coordination across teams
Provide customer service support to internal staff and partners

Required Skills/Abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report and content development
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and manage communication workflows
Strong organizational and time‑management skills
Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and interdisciplinary teams
Experience developing internal and external communication materials
Experience supporting project management activities (tracking, reporting, coordination)
Familiarity with federal agencies or public sector communications
Proficiency with communication and collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field
Required:
Minimum 3 years of experience in communications, public affairs, or project coordination
Required:
Experience developing written communication products and supporting project reporting
Preferred:
Training or certification in project management or strategic communications
Preferred:
Experience working with federal agencies or similar organizations
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in an office or remote environment with standard computer equipment
Ability to attend meetings and travel occasionally as needed
Ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and written formats
