The purpose of the Business Intelligence Developer position is to develop business intelligence (BI) strategies and create corporate and departmental BI products. This position works directly with business related departments to gather business requirements and insights into data. Responsibilities include documentation of business requirements, translation of business requirements to data models, development of BI reports, and documentation of product requirements.
This Business Intelligence Developer position is structured under the business facing portion of the Project Technology Services team. A Business Intelligence Developer would communicate business needs and data requirements to a Data Architect and provide guidance in curating this data. Requirements include data modeling, big data analytics, using Power Query or DAX to convert business logic and analytics to measures and visualize data to provide insights into the business.
Roles and responsibilities:
Develop Enterprise dashboards and reports
Coordinate development of Business Intelligence products with cloud data team and departments
Mentor Business Intelligence Developers in BI product development and strategy
Analyzing product, market, and share trends to build warehouse data
Translating business needs into technical specifications
Developing reporting systems that provide accessible information for decision making
Using warehouse data to generate reports to support business decision making and business performance monitoring
Maintaining data analytics platforms
Evaluating and improving existing BI systems
Conducting troubleshooting on BI models
Generating and delivering quality reports to customers and performing quality assurance checks on reports
Define BI Practices and Patterns
Define and document BI product requirements (user stories, goals, KPIs, metrics)
Document data models
Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs, and widgets
Build page navigation buttons and search fields
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, Business or other relevant fields
3+ years experience in analytics, reporting, or business intelligence
2 years experience in Power BI Desktop
2 years experience in Power BI Service
2 years experience in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, or other BI software
Experience in coding languages primarily Python, R, SQL
Familiarity with USQL, Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake
Experience in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
Background in data warehouse design (e.g.
