Job Summary
The WIS First Alert Desk is a dynamic part of WIS Sunrise every weekday morning. The ideal anchor/reporter will bring excellent news judgment with a sense of urgency that adds an energetic, sparkling personality to complete our morning team. Your creative vision for this daypart will help WIS continue delivering the market’s top‑rated morning news.

Responsibilities

Use multiple sources throughout the morning to identify urgent, timely content for the morning shows, providing viewers with the “First Alert” to what’s happening that could affect their day.

Shoot, write, edit, and publish video journalism for multiple platforms.

Pitch and produce enterprise journalism, showcasing an awareness of trending and timely topics.

Manage deadlines while remaining responsive to the demands of the newsroom.

Present information in a fair, unbiased manner.

Set an example as a team player in a winning culture, assisting with show producing as needed.

Qualifications

3+ years’ experience as a professional broadcast journalist.

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field.

Excellent live reporting skills with the ability to ad‑lib during breaking news.

Refined ability to write for both broadcast and digital presentation.

Basic experience with newsroom computer systems, preferably ENPS.

Understanding of and adherence to AP Style for digital platforms and broadcasting writing for TV.

Ability to operate a field camera, editing, and lighting equipment.

Ability to lift/carry equipment ranging from 35-50 lbs.

Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Represent WIS professionally and responsibly in the community and newsroom, online and in person.

Must have the desire to win, reflect critically on your work, and apply feedback.
