Podcast Producer

Burn Rate + Bull$hit, Sioux Falls, SD, United States

Salary min: $70,000.00

Salary max: $82,000.00

About the Show

Burn Rate + Bull$hit (BRB$) is a podcast and video series that calls out the nonsense in business, finance, and the startup world… and celebrates the people doing it the right way. We publish weekly long-form episodes plus a steady stream of clips and shorts across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and our website (burnrateandbullshit.com).

We take the content seriously, but not ourselves. If you like sharp takes, tight edits, and a little bit of mischief in your thumbnails, keep reading.

About the Role

We're hiring a Podcast Producer & Content Editor to own the week-to-week production of BRB$. You'll research and develop each episode, write show notes, edit the full-length episode, cut clips and shorts for social, and design the thumbnails that make people click. You'll work directly with the hosts and be in the room for filming at our studio.

This role sits at the intersection of editorial, post-production, and design. If you've always wanted to run a show end-to-end (and you have the portfolio to prove you can), this is that job.

What You'll Do

Episode Development & Research

  • Research weekly episode topics, including current events, guest backgrounds, industry trends, and supporting data.
  • Develop episode angles, discussion questions, and segment outlines in collaboration with the hosts.
  • Prepare pre-show briefs, run sheets, and source material for each recording.
  • Write and publish weekly show notes, including episode summaries, guest bios, timestamps, key quotes, links, and references.
  • Maintain an ongoing editorial calendar and topic backlog.

Video & Audio Editing

  • Edit full-length episodes (video and audio) for YouTube and podcast platforms, including pacing, color, sound mix, graphics, and lower thirds.
  • Cut engaging clips and vertical shorts (9:16, 1:1, 4:5) optimized for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and LinkedIn.
  • Add captions, motion graphics, B-roll, sound design, and brand-consistent visual treatments.
  • Maintain organized project files, source media, and archival backups.
  • Hit a consistent weekly publishing cadence without dropping the ball on quality.

Thumbnails & Social Graphics

  • Design thumbnails for full episodes, clips, and shorts across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • A/B test thumbnail concepts and iterate based on click-through and retention data.
  • Create supporting social graphics and episode announcement assets that fit the BRB$ brand.
  • Keep a tidy asset library so nothing gets recreated from scratch.

Publishing & Channel Management

  • Upload and schedule episodes, clips, and shorts across all platforms with SEO-optimized titles, descriptions, tags, and chapters.
  • Post show notes and related content to burnrateandbullshit.com.
  • Monitor performance metrics and share weekly insights on what's working and what isn't.
  • Respond to and manage the first layer of audience comments in partnership with the hosts.

What You Bring

Required

  • 3–5 years of hands-on podcast, video, or digital content production experience.
  • Editing chops: fluent in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve; comfortable with Audition, Pro Tools, or Logic for audio cleanup and mixing.
  • Motion & design: working knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop, and/or Figma for thumbnails and graphics.
  • Short-form fluency: demonstrated track record cutting clips that perform on YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Reels.
  • Strong writer: able to draft clean, on-brand show notes, titles, and descriptions without hand-holding.
  • Editorial instincts: good judgment on what's interesting, what's funny, and what's boring — and the confidence to pitch it.
  • Organized operator: can manage a weekly production schedule, source files, and multiple deliverables without things falling through the cracks.
  • Portfolio of podcast, YouTube, or social video work you personally produced and edited.

Nice to Have

  • Experience producing business, finance, tech, or startup-oriented content.
  • Familiarity with YouTube Studio analytics, TikTok Creator Center, and podcast hosting platforms.
  • Basic on-set production experience: lighting, audio, multi-cam capture.
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, Squarespace, or similar CMS for publishing show notes.
  • A sense of humor. We curse a little. You should be okay with that.

Working Arrangement

  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend recording days.
  • Location: On-site at our studio. This is not a remote role — you'll be in the room for filming and post.
  • Tools: We provide the editing workstation, software licenses, and studio gear.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $70,000 – $82,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
  • Performance bonus tied to audience growth milestones.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off and paid holidays.
  • Professional development budget for software, courses, and conferences.
  • First-row seat to candid conversations with founders, operators, and investors.
