Role Overview
The Associate Art Director works under the guidance of the Creative Director to support the execution of Spinelli Kilcollin’s visual expression across campaigns, editorials, and brand touchpoints. In close collaboration with the studio team, this role helps translate creative concepts into clear production plans, organized workflows, and finished assets. A key aspect of the role is maintaining a systems-oriented approach to creative work, ensuring that assets across campaigns, editorial content, evergreen imagery, and product storytelling feel cohesive and part of a larger visual language. The Associate Art Director helps connect these pieces so the brand communicates with clarity and consistency across all platforms and experiences.
Responsibilities
Creative Execution
Work under the direction of the Creative Director to support the development and execution of campaigns, editorials, and brand storytelling.
Translate creative concepts into storyboards, shot lists, visual references, and production plans.
Develop clear storyboards for photo and video productions to align teams before shoots begin.
Assist with art direction during shoots to ensure imagery and video align with the brand’s visual language.
Help maintain consistency across photography, video, and digital assets.
Support oversight of the in-house studio team, including photographers, videographers, editors, and creative collaborators.
Coordinate shoot schedules, production planning, and post-production timelines.
(Agency negotiations) and oversight on department budget allocation
Ensure the studio team is aligned with project priorities, deliverables, and production standards.
Work closely with Marketing, Product, Merchandising, Retail Environments, Web, Retail, and Wholesale teams to ensure creative assets support the needs of each channel.
Help translate campaign concepts into deliverables for ecommerce, social media, retail environments, and press.
Creative Systems & Brand Cohesion
Help organize creative output so campaigns, editorials, evergreen content, and product imagery function as part of a larger brand system.
Support structured workflows for production planning, asset management, and creative documentation.
Ensure visual cohesion across the brand’s key touchpoints, including imagery, video, events, spatial experiences, digital assets, and installations.
Brand Integrity & Creative Approval
Support the Creative Director in maintaining the integrity of Spinelli Kilcollin’s brand identity across all creative outputs.
Help manage a clear and organized creative approval process to ensure all assets align with the brand’s visual language and storytelling standards.
Serve as a point of coordination between teams submitting ideas or creative requests, helping guide concepts through the proper review and approval channels.
Ensure that contributions from across the organization are evaluated and integrated in a way that preserves the coherence, quality, and long-term identity of the brand.
Help safeguard the brand’s visual and creative standards as assets expand across campaigns, digital platforms, retail environments, and experiential moments.
Tools & Technical Proficiency
Figma for layouts, storyboards, and creative planning
Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Capture One or similar tools for photography review and asset management
Frame.io or similar tools for video review and feedback
Familiarity with project and workflow tools such as Notion
Ideal Profile
Strong visual instincts with an understanding of photography, video, and design execution.
Ability to build clear storyboards and visual plans that guide production teams.
Experience coordinating studio teams and creative productions.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Systems-oriented mindset with an interest in how creative work connects across campaigns, content series, and brand experiences.
Experience in fashion, luxury, editorial, or brand creative environments preferred.
Knows how to read the room
A strong understanding of the history of art, fashion, and global culture, combined with an awareness of contemporary street culture and emerging movements.
Compensation
$90,000–110,000 commensurate with experience.
