Director – Derivatives Operations Technology (Murex)

I’m searching for a Director-level leader in Derivatives Operations Technology for a client of mine. They are a well-established global financial institution with a growing presence in the NYC area, continuing to invest in their technology and operations platform.

In this role, you will lead technology solutions supporting Derivatives Operations, with a focus across middle and back-office functions. You’ll act as a key interface between business stakeholders, technology teams, and external vendors, ensuring systems are aligned with operational workflows and evolving business needs.

You will own the Murex platform and partner closely with operations teams to understand processes, risks, and controls, translating those into functional and technical solutions. The role oversees delivery across both BAU and strategic initiatives, including design, testing, release management, and production support. You’ll also drive prioritization across workstreams, support governance and reporting, and act as an escalation point for critical issues. From a leadership perspective, you will guide a vendor team and ensure successful delivery across initiatives.

Key experience:
Strong capital markets knowledge across the trade lifecycle
Experience within derivatives operations (middle and/or back office)
Hands-on experience with Murex (configuration, data, workflows)
Technical exposure to SQL, XML, and data models (functional candidates considered)
Experience delivering change initiatives and working within vendor models
