Position Summary

The Director of Corporate Development will act as a core member of Advanced Energy’s Corporate Development function to help develop & cultivate our acquisition pipeline, execute transactions, and implement integrations. Success in this role means serving as a pivotal driver of Advanced Energy’s growth strategy—leading the full lifecycle of M&A activity from early‑stage market scanning and target identification through due diligence, financial modeling, and seamless post‑close integration. You will build strong partnerships across our businesses and corporate functions, helping champion teams evaluate strategic growth platforms and develop clear, data‑driven investment cases. You’ll expertly manage complex workstreams, organize and interpret key diligence findings, and influence decision‑making with crisp, executive‑ready materials. You will also cultivate relationships with potential acquisition candidates and investment bankers, maintain accurate and insightful pipeline data, and contribute to special projects that support our executive team and board.

Responsibilities

  • Participate, as a key team member, in the full lifecycle of Advanced Energy’s M&A process, from initial opportunity ideation through due diligence, deal execution, and post‑close integration.
  • Work with Corporate Development and business leadership to identify, assess, and prioritize acquisition targets, developing detailed profiles and cultivating relationships with high‑potential candidates.
  • Manage transaction and due diligence workstreams, ensuring disciplined project planning, cross‑functional coordination, and timely execution.
  • With Corporate Development leadership, drive integration planning and oversee implementation to enable seamless transitions and maximize value capture.
  • Support the identification and evaluation of strategic growth platforms to shape both organic and inorganic growth roadmaps.
  • Build robust financial models and develop executive‑ready investment materials in partnership with champion business leaders.
  • Collaborate with corporate functions and business unit teams to analyze valuation drivers, assess risks, and address critical deal considerations.
  • Conduct and coordinate financial due diligence efforts, synthesizing insights to inform recommendations to leadership.
  • Maintain and manage acquisition pipeline and contact databases, ensuring accurate tracking and visibility into opportunities.
  • Engage with investment bankers and external advisors and prepare high‑quality materials for executive leadership and board‑level discussions.

Work Environment

  • Location: Denver, Colorado.
  • This is a full‑time, on‑site position and may require 35% travel as needed.

You are collaborative and low‑ego, able to guide cross‑functional teams through high‑stakes decisions while maintaining alignment and momentum.

Experience

  • 5‑8 years of experience in Investment Banking or Financial Analysis
  • Investment banking or consulting experience in relevant industries is strongly encouraged

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering plus 3‑5 years’ experience in a technical role or Master’s Degree in Engineering

Preferred: 2‑year MBA from a top 20 business school

Compensation

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $170,000 - $220,000 per year.
