Communications Specialist & Speechwriter
The Opportunity:

We’re looking for an experienced communications specialist like you, who is ready to share your knowledge and willing to win for the client and live our mission every day. Here, you’ll use your skills and experience to design, develop, and produce a variety of internal and external communication materials and media that supports the client.
In this opportunity, you will provide expertise to support the client in the performance of duties, including addressing a wide range of public affairs issues supporting and affecting achievement of the client mission proactively. You’ll coordinate across the staff to ensure the intent, messages, and themes for the client, subordinate, and partner organizations are synchronized, harmonized, clear, and consistent, and that all materials are composed using the concept of unifying visual concepts and speaking with one voice. You will remain attuned to ongoing and future planned Command activities, be familiar with the vision, mission, and intent of client leadership, and remain well informed and proactive in the staffing procedures for the organization.
In this role as a communications specialist, you will apply expertise as the speechwriter to research, write, and edit a variety of materials, including speeches, presentations, briefs, reports, editorials, congressional testimony, blog posts, and other products as required to promote and explain the client's position. You will conduct coordination and integration across client directorates and subordinate commands to gather, develop, and check the accuracy of information from a wide range of sources, then interpret and explain specifics on a variety of subjects. You’ll prepare assignments based on input from subject matter experts, often culling information from several sources. You will perform additional extensive research and rewrite submissions to organize, balance, and apply a consistent sense of style, grammar, and flow to the finished product. You’ll establish and maintain an electronic product repository of speeches and related information for use by the client command to ensure alignment and integration of client messages. You will ensure that written materials are commensurate with the level and authority of the target audience. You’ll provide analysis as the client prepares Congressional testimony, written products, and information papers on a wide variety of issues, with audiences at the highest level of the client's civilian and military leadership.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience with communications, speech writing, or public affairs
Experience researching, writing, and editing a variety of materials, including speeches, presentations, briefs, reports, editorials, congressional testimony, and blog posts
Knowledge of word processing and integrated software applications
Ability to prepare assignments based on input from subject matter experts, culling information from a number of sources
Ability to perform detail‑oriented work
TS/SCI clearance
HS diploma or GED
Nice to Have
Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
Possession of excellent organizational skills
Bachelor’s degree

Compensation
Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $55,200.00 to $126,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
