Overview
As Michigan once again takes center stage in the 2026 midterm elections, students in our state have a unique opportunity to lead and make their voices heard. With nearly half a million students across more than 80 colleges and universities, young voters have the numbers and the power to shape the future through civic leadership.

For Michigan is building a scrappy and innovative statewide operation to protect and expand democracy by empowering youth leadership. We train, support, and mobilize thousands of college students to take control of their futures, get organized, and vote.

The WW/GOTV/Relational Director will play a key role in ensuring students are both welcomed into civic life at the start of the school year and mobilized to turn out in November.

What Will You Do?
The WW/GOTVRelational Director will use independent discretion and judgment to:
Lead program planning and statewide coordination of Welcome Week (WW), Get Out the Vote (GOTV) initiatives, and lead our Relational organizing program
Work directly with RODs, Campus Organizers, and student organizing fellows to design and execute high-visibility Welcome Week events that engage new and returning students, with a focus on driving volunteer recruitment and fellow participation
Help RODs and Campus Organizers brainstorm and plan creative events and strategies throughout the semester to build community, develop leadership, and sustain student involvement
Support the Operations department with logistics needs, supply procurement, and other priorities as needed
Collaborate closely with the Organizing department to set and meet Relational goals, spearheading this key piece of our peer-to-peer organizing strategy
Collaborate closely with the State Director, Organizing and Data department to set goals, build accountability systems, and evaluate progress using metrics
Communicate and manage across departments to ensure alignment on WW and GOTV goals
Other duties as assigned by leadership

Who Are You?
As a successful candidate for this job, you will have:
At least two complete cycles of statewide campaign experience in leadership roles, with a background as an organizer
Experience designing and executing large-scale events or campus activations, especially those centered on recruitment or visibility
Experience using, and ideally administrating, relational tools, preferably Empower
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Creativity and excitement for supporting student-led, outside-the-box organizing tactics
A strong understanding of Google Suite and VAN
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work long, irregular hours including weekends
Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate with stakeholders across all levels of our organization
A driver’s license and access to a reliable car
Willingness to relocate to Michigan by the start date; Detroit residency preferred
What Are The Physical Requirements?

Ability to work outdoors for extended periods talking with students and staff in various weather conditions
Flexibility to work extensive hours outside of normal business hours, including nights and weekends
Ability to travel extensively across Michigan, including long periods in a vehicle
Availability on a regular and predictable schedule
Ability to work on-site

Job Details:

This is a full-time, exempt position . The compensation for this position is

$6,000/month

and includes a generous benefits package. This position is full time,

at-will, and terminable at any time without or without cause. This position is in person based in Detroit, Michigan.
