Job Summary

This role leads the transformation of PayPal’s Developer Marketing and Developer Relations (DevRel) go-to-market approach, shaping how PayPal engages, supports, and earns trust with developers globally. As a senior leader within Product Marketing, you will define and scale developer-focused strategies that strengthen PayPal’s position as a trusted platform for builders, partners, and technical innovators. You will set the vision for developer-facing messaging, programs, and campaigns that drive awareness, adoption, and long-term engagement across PayPal’s developer ecosystem. Partnering closely with Product, Engineering, DevRel, Sales, and Corporate Marketing, you will translate developer needs, feedback, and experiences into clear positioning, compelling content, and measurable business impact.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop insights and conduct market analysis to inform product strategy and positioning
  • Create and refine value proposition narratives tailored to market segments
  • Monitor and analyze competition to identify opportunities and threats
  • Collect and validate customer feedback to guide product development
  • Lead early detection and resolution of customer issues to improve satisfaction
  • Oversee performance tracking through instrumentation and dashboarding
  • Translate insights into actionable recommendations for product enhancements
  • Drive the execution of key initiatives and go-to-market strategies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful merchant solutions
  • Lead regional product marketing initiatives to align with business objectives

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience

Additional Responsibilities

  • Lead and evolve PayPal’s developer brand, defining tone, voice, positioning, and messaging that resonates with developers across experience levels and geographies
  • Define, build, and scale differentiated developer marketing and DevRel programs that drive awareness, engagement, and adoption of PayPal’s developer products and services
  • Own developer-focused go‑to‑market strategy, including solution launches, campaigns, and sustained engagement programs across web, social, SEO/AEO, blogs, events, and third‑party media
  • Establish and scale the PayPal developer web and platform presence, ensuring a consistently high quality bar across content and experiences
  • Partner with Technical Content, Product Management, and Engineering to translate complex technical capabilities into clear value propositions, use cases, personas, and lifecycle messaging
  • Drive global solution launches by aligning market segmentation, persona‑driven messaging, and positioning across webcasts, demand generation programs, direct marketing, advertising, PR/AR, and sales enablement
  • Develop business‑ and sales‑ready content that clearly articulates PayPal’s differentiated value versus competitors
  • Create, implement, and scale onboarding, nurture, and reactivation programs for developers to drive long‑term engagement and platform loyalty
  • Measure and optimise campaign and program performance using defined awareness, engagement, and demand KPIs
  • Build strong cross‑functional partnerships with DevRel, Product, Engineering, Sales, Regional Marketing, and Corporate Marketing to achieve strategic objectives
  • Drive operational excellence through process improvement, SOPs, and systems that enable scale and consistency
  • Coach, develop, and inspire a high‑performing team, ensuring delivery against key business metrics and fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in product marketing, developer marketing, technical marketing, or related roles, including leadership of global programs
  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling developer‑focused marketing or DevRel initiatives
  • Deep empathy for developer audiences and a proven ability to engage developers authentically across career stages
  • Strong ability to translate technical concepts and specifications into compelling business and marketing narratives
  • Experience partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Sales to deliver successful launches and enablement
  • Proficiency or hands‑on experience with modern front‑end frameworks, backend systems, APIs, or analytics tools strongly preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong track record of storytelling and thought leadership
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and execution skills with a bias for action and results
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred

Benefits

Base pay depends on location and experience. Pay range for San Jose, CA: $176,500 – $262,350 annually. Additional compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation. PayPal offers a balanced hybrid work model with three days in the office and two days of flexible work.
