Videographer Intern / Cabin Counselor Summer 2026 | Lake Aloaloa | Residential paid internship with stipend & credit support Internship Overview
Camp Nakanawa is seeking a Videographer Intern for Summer 2026 — a college‑level film, media, or communications student ready to spend the summer capturing camp life on Lake Aloaloa. This is a residential internship: you'll shoot and edit daily content AND live in‑cabin with 6–8 campers as their counselor, big‑sister, and mentor. You'll leave camp with a portfolio‑ready reel, real client‑caliber work experience, potential academic credit, and friendships that last long after the final bonfire. The ideal intern is creative, self‑directed, comfortable around children, and excited by the challenge of balancing production deadlines with the daily rhythm of cabin life.
Specialty Area — Videography & Content Production
Capture daily camp life through video and stills: activities, cabin moments, events, traditions, and staff profiles.
Edit short‑form content (30–90 sec) for Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook on a 2–3 day turnaround.
Produce 2–3 longer‑form pieces over the summer: session recap reels, parent‑facing highlights, and alumni/donor content.
Collaborate with the Office/Social Media Communications Assistant on posting cadence and brand voice.
Maintain and back up footage daily; organize raw files for camp archival use.
Obtain and verify parent/guardian media‑release status before filming any camper.
Preferred skills: Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, basic color/audio cleanup, motion graphics in After Effects or CapCut, DSLR/mirrorless proficiency. Drone experience a plus (Part 107 preferred).
Cabin Counselor Responsibilities
Live in a cabin with 6–8 campers (ages 7–16) and act as their big‑sister, mentor, and caregiver.
Supervise every aspect of the cabin day: morning reveille, cabin clean‑up, meal times, rest time, evening activities, bedtime routines, and after‑hours duty as assigned.
Guide your cabin group in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities.
Help campers plan their participation in camp‑wide programs, special events, and activities.
Provide opportunities for each camper to experience success, discuss concerns, and meet camp development goals.
Carry out established roles for supervising camper health and enforcing camp safety regulations.
Log events and maintain records; submit all required reports on time.
General Responsibilities
Abide by all camp rules and successfully complete pre‑camp staff training.
Assume responsibility for each camper's safety and well‑being at all times.
Set a good example for campers and fellow staff at all times.
Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities.
Assist in teaching or leading activities beyond your specialty as needed.
Know your limitations and always be flexible.
Qualifications & Skills
Currently enrolled in a college program in film, media production, communications, journalism, marketing, or related field (rising sophomores through recent graduates eligible).
Portfolio or reel demonstrating video production and editing skills (2–5 pieces).
At least 18 years of age; desire and ability to work with children outdoors.
First Aid/CPR certification (camp will provide if not currently held).
Ability to accept supervision and feedback; good character, integrity, and adaptability.
Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self‑control.
Physical ability to participate in strenuous activities (hiking, carrying gear, long days on your feet).
Ability to pass a background check.
Compensation & Academic Credit
Paid stipend, room and board, and all meals included. Camp Nakanawa will work with your academic institution to support internship credit where available (we can provide supervisor evaluations, hour logs, and site documentation). You keep a copy of all footage you produce for your portfolio, with proper model‑release compliance.
