Join one of the most successful and fastest-growing open-shop electrical contracting companies in the Southern United States. With a reputation for world-class technical expertise and cutting-edge innovation, our client handles high-profile projects across industrial, commercial, and government sectors. Their Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) department is recognized as one of the strongest in the region, and they are looking for a veteran designer to help spearhead their continued expansion into the Oklahoma market.
As a Senior Virtual Designer, you will be a key leader in the layout and production of complex electrical shop drawings. This role requires a self-starting expert who can bridge the gap between field-level electrical theory and high-level 3D modeling. You will lead BIM coordination, manage budgets, and mentor a team of designers to ensure the on-time delivery of precise, clash-free models.
Key Responsibilities
• Advanced Modeling: Build detailed 3D models in Revit and Navisworks based on field superintendent layouts.
• BIM Coordination: Lead the clash detection and resolution process; manage model uploads and follow GC-led coordination through to final sign-off.
• Project Leadership: Work alongside the VDC Director to manage BIM budgets and project timelines.
• Design Collaboration: Partner with the Engineering department on design/build projects and assist in maintaining company-wide Revit templates and graphic standards.
• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and professional development to Virtual Designers and Detailers.
• Procurement Support: Produce accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) for labor tracking and material procurement.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Experience: 8+ years of Computer-Aided Drafting experience specifically within the Electrical Commercial Construction industry.
• Technical Proficiency: Expert-level mastery of Autodesk Revit and Navisworks Manage.
• Electrical Expertise: Practical field experience and/or an Associate's degree in Electrical Theory is required.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Deep working knowledge and application of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Associates degree in CAD or equivalent work history preferred.
• Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate technical data clearly to GCs, MEP trade partners, and internal operations teams.
This isn't just a drafting job; it's a leadership role within a high-energy, fast-paced VDC department. You will have the autonomy to work on diverse projects-from government institutions to massive industrial developments-while playing a foundational role in a regional market expansion.
