Up to $45,400 per year, paid monthly.

Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Communications supports UTA Athletics’ communications, including broadcast and website efforts, by assisting with live game productions, managing web content, and serving as the primary media contact for assigned sport programs. This role collaborates with the External Affairs team to enhance brand visibility through storytelling, streaming operations, media outreach, statistical reporting, and game‑day coverage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with the execution of live broadcasts and streaming operations for assigned athletic events, including coordination with conference partners, vendors, campus IT, and game‑day personnel.

Support the production of high‑quality broadcasts and ensure adherence to conference and institutional standards.

Maintain and update the UTA Athletics website, including schedules, rosters, statistics, recaps, and other digital content.

Serve as the communications contact for assigned sport(s), assisting with daily communications needs and media requests.

Support media outreach and coordination with conference offices and campus partners.

Write, edit, and publish game recaps, previews, feature stories, and other content across athletics platforms.

Ensure messaging is clear, accurate, and consistent with departmental standards.

Assist with game‑day operations, including statistics reporting, broadcast support, and post‑game coverage for assigned sports.

Support compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional requirements.

Collaborate with communications, creative, marketing, and digital teams on storytelling and promotional initiatives.

Provide guidance to and coordinate student workers and game‑day staff for broadcast, website, and communications efforts.

Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned in support of UTA Athletics.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, sports management, or a related field.

Exposure to or experience with media relations, game‑day communications, live streaming or broadcast production, and athletics website or CMS platforms (e.g., SIDEARM).

Preferred Qualifications

One year of experience or internships in collegiate athletics communications, broadcasting, or digital content management.

Experience supporting communications efforts for an intercollegiate sport, including media relations or content creation.

Familiarity with NCAA and conference communications, broadcasting, and reporting requirements.

Experience assisting with athletics broadcast platforms, streaming workflows, or game‑day production.

Experience working with or providing guidance to student assistants, interns, or game‑day staff.

Basic knowledge of website management, digital analytics, or fan engagement platforms.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills for web, broadcast, and digital platforms.

Knowledge of media relations practices, including press releases, game notes, and post‑game coverage.

Familiarity with live broadcast and streaming workflows, including basic production roles and terminology.

Working knowledge of content management systems (e.g., SIDEARM) and ability to maintain accurate web content.

Basic understanding of NCAA and conference communications, statistics, and reporting requirements.

Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and produce accurate work in a fast‑paced environment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with media, staff, and student workers.

Ability to learn and apply new technologies, including broadcast tools, statistics software, and digital platforms.

Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in content, statistics, and public‑facing information.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by athletics events.
