As a freelancer, you’ll partner with newsroom teams across broadcast and digital to shape compelling, audience-focused content. The ideal candidate is quick-thinking, idea-driven, and thrives under pressure while producing accurate, engaging work on tight timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and produce news content for broadcast and digital platforms
- Pitch, research, and develop story ideas
- Respond quickly and accurately to breaking news
- Contribute to engaging, high-impact newscasts and streaming content
- Collaborate across newsroom teams to support daily coverage
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience writing in a TV newsroom (required)
- Experience producing newscasts in a broadcast environment
- Strong news judgment and editorial skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
- Familiarity with newsroom systems and digital platforms
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the Bay Area news market
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing to work in San Jose, CA (on-site)
- Flexible schedule, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and breaking news coverage
