Description
The Digital Content Editor/Manager leads, develops, and executes Simpson College's digital content strategy across web, social, and multimedia platforms. This position manages major multi-channel marketing projects, ensures a user-focused and search-optimized web experience, strengthens brand visibility, and produces compelling written and visual storytelling that supports strategic institutional objectives. The role also oversees media relations coordination, trend monitoring, logistics for market research, and cross-campus collaboration to unify marketing efforts.
Responsibilities
Project Management & Content Leadership — 35%: Play leading role in conceiving and managing multi-channel marketing projects from concept to execution; oversee digital strategy to enhance online engagement, visibility, and brand consistency; guide campus partners in aligning content with campaign and institutional goals; collaborate in prioritizing, organizing and managing marketing communication projects while serving as primary liaison with campus partners.
Website and Social Media Management & Optimization — 25%: Manage and execute website and social media content; ensure user-friendly navigation, accessibility, and search engine optimization; collaborate with departments to maintain accurate and strategic web content; measure and evaluate web and social media analytics.
Storytelling & Written Content Development — 15%: Write, edit, and develop compelling stories, articles, and marketing copy; support branding initiatives with clear, strategic messaging.
Media Relations & Market Research — 10%: In partnership with Vice President, create and coordinate media interest for the College; maintain frequent contact with target media and respond to media requests; monitor trends, assist the CMO with market research logistics, and support data collection.
Collaboration & Campaign Integration — 10%: Work closely with OMSC teammates and campus partners to ensure cohesive campaign messaging; support cross-departmental integration of digital marketing efforts.
Mentorship & Team Support — 5%: Provide occasional guidance to student employees and serve as a resource to colleagues; assist teammates and contribute to office-wide initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communication, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven ability in digital content strategy, website management, and multi-channel marketing, especially social media marketing.
Strong storytelling, copywriting, and editing skills—easily adaptable to various platforms and audiences.
Familiarity with SEO, CMS platforms, analytics tools, and project management systems (e.g., Smartsheet, Sprout).
Experience managing social media, creating multimedia content, or coordinating marketing projects.
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse campus partners and external media.
