Communications Director/Digital Manager

The Democratic Association of Secretaries of State (DASS) is seeking talented, hard-working, and organized Communications Directors/Digital Managers for Secretary of State races in the 2026 cycle.
The Communications Director/Digital Manager will oversee campaign communications - online and in print and traditional media - in every aspect of the race for Secretary of State through 2026. The Communications Director/Digital Manager, in partnership with relevant consultants, advisors, and team members, will develop, implement, and manage a communications/digital outreach plan.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Speechwriting
Developing and executing a social media strategy
Drafting talking points
Drafting and executing a holistic communications plan
Crisis communications management
Staffing and prepping the candidate
Pitching and developing opposition research
Requirements:
Ideal candidates will have at least one cycle as a communications staffer.
Additional sought after qualities:
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks accordingly
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Exceptional writing background
Exceptional attention to detail
Digital fluency
Interest in emerging trends and technologies to reach audiences online
Willingness to learn and ask questions

While this position may be remote work initially, candidates should be prepared for the possibility of relocating to the state where their assigned campaign is based as the campaign progresses. Relocation expectations will be discussed during the hiring process.
Recruitment for this position has begun, but each campaign determines its own hiring timeline. This role may be filled quickly, or it could remain open for several months as campaigns build their teams.
