Role Description
This is a freelance/contract role with flexible, ongoing volume with the potential to increase over time. The SEO Copywriter will be responsible for creating optimized web content, performing keyword research to drive traffic, and assisting in crafting content strategies. Daily tasks include drafting, editing, and refining written materials to align with SEO best practices to ensure maximum reach and online visibility. Collaboration with the team to align content with brand goals will also be a key part of this role.
Write blog posts, product roundups, and seasonal content for a fashion and beauty audience of women 40+
Take direction on angle, tone, and strategy. The creative direction comes from me, your job is clean, on-brand execution
Format and publish content in WordPress, including proper SEO structure
Write and optimize meta descriptions, internal links, and H1/H2/H3 hierarchy
Use primary and secondary keywords naturally based on the brief provided
Qualifications
Strong writing skills, including the ability to write in someone else's voice — this role is execution, not self-expression
Excellent grammar is non-negotiable — but so is knowing when to break the rules. We write the way real people talk, not the way an English teacher grades. If your instinct is to make everything sound formal and polished, this probably isn't the right fit.
Working knowledge of SEO: keyword research, on-page structure, meta descriptions, and how search algorithms reward (or punish) content
Experience with SEO tools like Semrush, Yoast, or Google Search Console
Understanding of best practices for images, alt-text, layout, and Google Discover
Comfortable formatting and publishing in WordPress (ideally Gutenberg)
Genuine interest in fashion and beauty; it comes through in the work
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines, work independently in a remote environment, and take feedback on writing
Nice to Have
Experience writing fashion and beauty content
Experience with Kit, including newsletters, sequences, and opt-ins
Familiarity with affiliate content (LTK, ShopMy, Amazon)
A Note on AI
Using AI as part of your process is fine — to outline, research, etc. Submitting unedited AI output is not. The entire point of this role is that the content sounds like me. If AI is doing the writing, it doesn’t. Be honest about your process and make sure your editorial judgment is driving the work.
