Lighting & Media Manager
Paramount Theatre and Aurora Civic Center Authority, located on Stolp Island in the Fox River just one hour from downtown Chicago, is seeking a Lighting & Media Manager to oversee the technical teams responsible for lighting, media, and related equipment across our four performance venues. The role involves managing schedules, budgets, and inventory, and coordinating installation and maintenance work for productions and events.

Reporting & Collaboration
Reports to the Director of Production and works closely with the Audio Manager, Production Manager, Vice President of Production, and the technical and artistic teams.

Key Responsibilities

Read and become familiar with scripts and scenic designs for upcoming productions.

Attend staff and production meetings, advocating for the Lighting & Media Department.

Ensure lighting and media designs are feasible within budget, timeline, and available labor.

Coordinate rentals, deliveries, pick‑ups, and returns of lighting and media equipment, keeping all parties informed.

Schedule installations, deinstallations, and rehearsal support for lighting and media systems.

Maintain safe work practices, ensuring all equipment is used safely and L&M areas are organized.

Update and maintain inventory records; track usage of expendables such as batteries, gels, and fog fluid.

Prepare annual budget requests and track spending for the Lighting & Media Department.

Investigate and recommend capital purchases and system upgrades.

Coordinate workshops and training for crew members, especially when new equipment is introduced.

Provide support to the Paramount School of the Arts and the Events Department, including media software maintenance.

Assist front‑of‑house teams with maintenance and troubleshooting of display and sound systems.

Read daily calls and rehearsal reports to complete department reports and designer notes.

Work with the Crew Manager to schedule and supervise over‑hire crews for lighting and media tasks.

Maintain clean and orderly workspaces and storage areas.

Adhere to all ACCA policies, ensure safety, demonstrate punctuality, and support ACCA events as needed.

Required Experience, Skills & Abilities

Ability to safely move, lift, and transport equipment, with knowledge of safe lifting techniques and mechanical assistance.

Experience implementing and tracking budgets.

Hands‑on attitude and willingness to assist the team when needed.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods if necessary.

Superior communication, problem‑solving, project management, and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience, Skills & Abilities

Minimum of 4 years experience in regional or educational theatre.

Current knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Proficiency with lighting and media departments in technical theatre environments:

Ability to assemble and troubleshoot lighting and media theatrical systems and networking.

Familiarity with WatchOut or Isadora media systems.

Familiarity with Eos lighting board and networking.

Valid driver’s license and comfort driving a large vehicle.
