Account Director, Early Phase Development
Reporting to the Director Business Development, Formulation Development, this role is responsible for identifying, negotiating, and closing new early‑stage development and clinical manufacturing business across Catalent’s oral dosage form technology offerings.
In this role, the Account Director will provide customer relationship management support to existing and new development programs. Specific objectives around new business generation across all service offerings will be agreed on an annual basis.
This is a remote, field‑based role.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute sales plans using Miller‑Heiman methodology to identify, qualify, pursue and close new development opportunities within an assigned region.
Work with legal to execute and negotiate complex development and supply agreements.
Present Catalent’s formulation development and clinical manufacturing capabilities to customers, crafting solutions that meet their needs.
Present broader capabilities to generate cross‑sell opportunities and craft value‑added solutions across technologies.
Support and prepare development proposals working closely with R&D and negotiate these proposals.
Collaborate with VPBDs, global account directors, and other BD teams to construct and execute strategic account plans when applicable.
Provide input into pricing strategy with assigned customers.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in science, business administration, or a related field; advanced scientific degree and/or MBA is advantageous but not essential.
5+ years of B2B sales, business development, or project management experience.
Sales/business development experience in the contract pharmaceutical industry preferred.
Thorough understanding of oral solid‑dose manufacturing is a plus.
Thorough understanding of bioavailability enhancement technologies and manufacturing processes is a plus.
