Duties & Responsibilities

Provide quality of patient care consistent with the standards and guidelines established by AnMed Emergency Department.

While working in the Emergency Department, the communication specialist works under the guidance and supervision of the Emergency Department nurse(s) and the charge nurse(s) to provide treatment as ordered by the physician(s)/provider(s) to promote quality and safe care of the patients within the department.

Receive incoming reports (EMS, physician offices, nursing homes, etc…); if orders are to be given, the call will be transferred to a nurse or a physician.

Maintain a database of all EMS alerts requested by EMS prior to arrival.

Assist with patient callbacks as instructed by the charge nurse and/or physician.

Assist nursing staff by obtaining vital signs of patients as instructed by the charge nurse of the Emergency Department.

Qualifications

H.S. Diploma or GED equivalency required. EMT certificate, graduate of an approved paramedic program, registered nurse, or completion of an approved nursing assistant training course.

Experience: Hospital-based nursing assistant, phlebotomist, paramedic, surgical technician, patient care technician, registered nurse, or other approved training/education.
