Responsibilities
Lead or manage marketing efforts for the Transportation Business Group, including developing winning strategies, preparing proposals and presentations, reviewing quality, coaching presentation teams, and creating external marketing materials. These efforts encompass research, collaboration, technical and creative writing, and layout development.
Develop and coordinate graphics, writing, desktop publishing, document development, and production.
Coordinate and lead marketing coordinators for production of marketing materials, ensuring quality assurance.
Update HDR’s internal tracking systems and marketing databases, adding resumes, statements of qualifications, proposals, and presentations to the library.
Support BDL in annual strategic planning in coordination with regional efforts.
Monitor and report marketing performance indicators, including win and capture rates and marketing costs.
Review monthly booking reports and assist BDL with forecasting annual bookings.
Collaborate with client managers to improve understanding of client business and leverage appropriate internal staff to win.
Develop strong client management plans with client managers.
Retain, develop, and supervise proposal and marketing employees as assigned.
Apply HDR’s Matrix of Authority for go
o‑go decisions.
Lead pursuit teams in creating and implementing effective win strategies (capture planning).
Facilitate pursuit teams to develop persuasive proposal and interview materials, manage proposal schedules, and confirm compliance.
Engage appropriate marketing services resources in pursuit teams.
Lead quality reviews of proposal and interview materials.
Coach interview teams to deliver key messages during interview presentations.
Facilitate debriefs to identify improvement opportunities and measure overall competitiveness.
Recognize and celebrate pursuit successes and milestones.
Manage workload demands of proposal managers and marketing coordinators.
Identify candidates for management, technical, business development, and marketing positions.
Train and mentor employees on business development and marketing best practices.
Manage client relationship management and financial systems to inform reporting metrics and dashboards.
Support development of annual and long‑term strategic plans, including growth initiatives and strategic investments.
Implement key growth initiatives and investments as defined in strategic plans.
Develop and implement client plans, including long‑term strategies to capture market share.
Create marketing collateral to support business development efforts.
Develop business relationships with teaming partners.
Direct content marketing campaigns to strengthen the brand, increase visibility, and showcase thought leaders.
Publish engaging digital content that reflects HDR’s brand and elevated thought leadership.
Implement strategies to elevate the brand and technical talent via industry associations.
Plan and fulfill conference sponsorship benefits as needed.
Participate in professional associations to elevate the brand in target markets.
Develop engaging internal communications content (announcements, presentations, videos, webinars).
Arrange professional photography on projects.
Coordinate large internal meetings, both in‑person and virtual.
Articulate capabilities and competitive advantages.
Manage business development and marketing budgets for the area.
Maintain inventory of branded materials for client visits, conferences, and recruiting activities.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry’s standard approach to procurement of professional services.
Preference given to local candidates.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years relevant industry experience.
Demonstrated self‑starter with a history of completing projects with limited oversight.
Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others.
Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign.
Ability and desire to travel and engage with others in-person.
Experience in winning high‑value contracts in the A/E/C industry.
Experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff.
