Summary: This position provides graphic design and creative support to the Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Marketing & Communications team. Working under the Director, this role assists with the development and production of visual content for recruitment and retention campaigns. This role contributes to a wide range of marketing and communication projects by creating digital and print materials that align with UMD's brand and strategic goals.

Responsibilities and Duties
Graphic Design & Content Creation (55%)

Assist with design and development of print materials, digital, print advertisements, exhibition materials, promotional items, and all other collateral materials as needed.

Manage print art file preparation, vendor submission, final print approval, and coordination of mailing lists for finished material delivery.

Prepare rough drafts and present ideas for feedback and approval.

Assist with copywriting for SEM collateral materials.

Help manage and coordinate the acquisition of SEM photo and video assets; manage asset library.

Ensure compliance with the University's branding guidelines.

Manage relationships with print representatives; help plan and execute print/digital advertising campaigns in partnership with vendors.

Production, Web Digital Marketing & CRM Communications (35%)

Assist with CRM marketing emails and communications.

Create and assist with managing digital advertising and social media content.

Update, maintain, and adjust layout of web pages with user experience and accessibility in mind.

Work with the team to develop compelling marketing campaigns for student recruitment.

Work Team and Professional Development (10%)

Participate as a positive member of the SEM marketing and communications team.

Participate in professional development activities.

Actively support UMD Campus Goal #2, create a positive and inclusive campus climate for all by advancing equity, diversity, and social justice.

Other duties as assigned.

Additional Details
Hourly Rate : $23.12-$25.00/hr. This position is a 0.80 (4 days a week, 8 hours a day).

Employment Dates : This is a temporary, 3-month position, with possibility to extend; contingent upon the continuing availability of work and funds for the position and satisfactory work performance. This position is in-person, with some flexibility for hybrid.

Visa Language : Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in art, graphic design, marketing, or related field or combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Acrobat.

A compelling portfolio with projects showcasing graphic design skills.

Experience preparing print-ready files for commercial printers, including knowledge of CMYK color modes, resolution (dpi/ppi), bleed, crop marks, preflight checks, and file formats (PDF/X, packaged InDesign).

Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in order to meet deadlines.

Excellent writing, grammar and punctuation, and interpersonal communication skills.

Experience with basic photography/videography and editing.

Background and understanding of issues related to access, diversity, and inclusion in higher education.

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Web experience (HTML, Javascript, and CMS, e.g. Drupal) and CRM experience a plus (e.g. Slate, Salesforce).

Proficiency in computer applications including Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.).

Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $23.12- $25.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.

Time Appointment: 80% Appointment
