Overview
The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

Responsibilities

Support the execution of the contract's ongoing and evolving Public Affairs and Communications efforts.

Act as a media relations coordinator, coordinating with multiple NASA centers to support media activities such as media tours, interviews, panel presentations, and speeches.

Help establish, reinforce and maintain the company's image as a vital contributor to space endeavors, including publicity, consumer awareness, corporate and communication campaigns.

Develop outreach products such as social media content, messaging campaigns, corporate presentations, and marketing collateral.

Support external events such as conferences and symposia.

Assist with the overall internal communications strategy that informs and engages employees, including recruitment and employee recognition efforts.

Help develop PowerPoint presentations and video/audio footage.

Assist with projects from concept to production.

Some after‑hours and weekend work may be required on occasion to support launch activities and special events.

Qualifications

High School Diploma with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in media relations and communications.

Experience in the aerospace industry with knowledge of the space program preferred.

Strong writing and editing skills, with AP Style Guide knowledge.

Photography/videography skills preferred.

Ability to work independently and multitask in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.

At least 3 years of relevant experience.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

May be required to climb stairs, wear hearing and eye protection, and access remote structures.

Work may take place inside and outside the test complex on uneven terrain.

Must be able to use ladders and platforms, and follow NASA and company safety standards.

Full‑time hours with occasional overtime, including weekends, and shift work may be required.

Travel to support the position, including airline travel, is expected.
