Description of the Position

Beyond Good & Evil 2 is an open world action adventure game set in a captivating space opera universe. It is also the direct prequel to the classic of 2003! Thanks to the technological advancement brought by our proprietary Voyager engine, Beyond Good & Evil 2 aims to offer an organic and uninterrupted experience of exploration and space piracy on the scale of a solar system, in which you can find exotic locations, colorful characters, and many mysteries to discover alone or with friends. Why We Need You:
Our team is looking for a Senior Level Designer who will contribute to transforming game intentions into memorable experiences.
What You Will Do:
Missions & Responsibilities:
Under the responsibility of Charles Bensoussan the associate Lead Level Designer, you will work with the GPPs, Quest & Narrative Designers, GD as well as with the Terrain/Planet teams to:
Prototype engaging gameplay situations

supporting the game activities in coherence with the Level Design Direction, the World Logic and the fantasy of Beyond Good & Evil 2
Design readable and navigable topologies / environments , respecting the 3C, taking the best advantage of the Level Design ingredients made available
Document

The guidelines and best practices LD (interior/exterior)
The intentions and design of World Locations from the briefs of the World Director and in co-construction with the teams (Blueprint, Map, artistic references, relations with the narrative stakes)

Shape the terrain

to tell a story through the environment and to stimulate the player's curiosity.
Ensure the quality and coherence of your content throughout the process

: integration, QA follow-up, participation in playtests and taking into account the feedback from the Creative Direction.
Act as a player ambassador

: put yourself in their shoes and evaluate each decision from their point of view, to challenge the design and guide the priorities.
Collaborate and exchange

continuously with the trades to align intention → prototype → playable content → final quality.

Profile
AAA / AA Production Cycle Completed:

Have lived at least one complete cycle from conception to closing on a major project
Experience in production OR strong appetite for third-person action/adventure style
Sensitivity to open world experiences, systemic approaches and Nintendo philosophy
Skills & Tools
Mastery of standard production tools:

Jira, Confluence, Perforce.
Experience with game engines,

technical sensitivity and strong curiosity/learning.
French & English:

operational (written/oral).
Pop culture and entertainment:

an asset for references and inspirations.
Know-How in Level Design
Interpret a brief

and translate it into clear LD intentions;

present

and

argue

it with the creative team.
Model in 3D

intentions (blocks/layouts/protos), iterating quickly (prototyping culture, playest over the shoulder)
Communicate regularly

the progress, document properly.
Problem solving:

manage constraints, simplify, keep the fun.
