Responsibilities
Oversees and supervises the building's CTE CTSO program in one of the content areas (Business and Information Solutions, Family & Consumer Science, Industrial Technologies).
Cultivates and enforces a positive community for all CTE students within the six Iowa CTE Content area pathways.
Cultivates and mentors student leadership for the CTSO programs across all CTE Content area pathways.
Maintains and recruits competitive teams in CTSO offered competitions.
Ensures all adherence to the membership requirements of the CTSO.
Assists in recording the CTSO meeting information with the necessary documentation.
Cultivates community partnerships to fundraise for expenses and/or materials aligned with individual CTSO content areas.
Collaborates with the CTE Specialist.
Reviews the needs and levels of performance for each CTE enrollee and concentrator and appraises student work and progress.
Promotes the CTSO program within the school and the community.
Participates in applicable training opportunities for school‑based CTSO advisors and ensures CTE licensure for all CTSO advisors for whom travel and stipend reimbursement is requested.
Enforces school policies, program policies, and competitor participation rules.
Ensures a safe environment at CTSO competitive events, contests and student travel.
Communicates with students, parents and other stakeholders on a regular basis.
Builds and maintains a rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each student reaches their full potential through targeted recruitment specific to each Iowa CTE content area.
Supports and implements DCSD's multi‑tiered system of supports (MTSS) for behaviors and academics.
Responsible for the safety, well‑being and work output of students.
Assists in the growth and development of CTE at every level.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Ability to visually monitor students.
Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
Good attendance and punctuality are required.
Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
Ability to drive a district van to transport students.
Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
Work Environment
Noise level is quiet to loud.
Work may be indoors and/or outdoors.
Work may be in non‑air‑conditioned rooms.
Flexibility and patience are required.
Substance‑free environment.
Fast‑paced atmosphere with constant contact with students, staff, or the public.

Ability to work hours outside of contracted hours, records and documents worked hours as directed.
Special Qualifications Required
Bachelor's degree in education or related field or have met field requirements for CTE endorsement.
Iowa teaching license or ability to obtain Iowa teaching license required in CTE.
Must be a current content teacher in the designated building.
Hold a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
Experience taking the initiative to accomplish projects required.
