Overview

The Technology and Maker Services Specialist is key to our guests’ experiences at the library. As the person our guests go to for assistance at our Technology Desk and in our Maker Studio, you make sure they get what they need, providing solutions and a wonderful user experience. You must love working with people, exhibit patience, and enjoy problem solving.

Responsibilities

Help guests be successful in using computers, software, equipment, and their own devices by providing information and basic instruction.

Assist guests in the Maker Studio with their DIY projects and troubleshooting problems.

Plan and present Maker and Technology classes.

Provide recommendations of devices, equipment, kits, and technology guests’ll enjoy.

Book computers, equipment, and tech help.

Troubleshoot equipment and assist in ensuring everything is working correctly so guests have a seamless experience.

Qualifications

Experience teaching technology and/or in planning and presenting library programming.

At least two years of work experience with the public.

At least two years of experience using computers in a work or educational environment.

Proficiency in using computers and other devices, including smartphones and tablets.

Reliable transportation.

Benefits and Salary
This is a full‑time position that averages 37.5 hours per week, including two evenings, a Saturday rotation, and some Sundays. The salary range is $20.69 - $22.76 DOQ. Benefits include IMRF pension plan and paid time off (sick, vacation, and personal). This is a year‑round position.
