The Sales Manager is responsible for the participation in maximizing revenue for their assigned hotel and serves at the secondary contact for prospective sales. The Sales Manager helps with the activities of the sales team with a general emphasis on outreach and social bookings. This position reports directly to the Director of Sales.
Role Responsibilities
Provide excellent and friendly customer service to existing and prospective customers
Develop a strong network of influencers and suppliers in the local community
Act as the primary contact for social group business and the secondary contact for corporate business
Perform weekly cold calls with the intention to grow SMERF business
Work with the Regional DOS when a cold call company is ready to move forward with booking
Provide client production estimation and a competitive market analysis to assist with revenue management strategy
Ability to generate, maintain and secure inquiries, proposals, group, and event contracts
Identify, attract, pursue and close on social events and group room bookings
Build group blocks in hotel PMS system (Roomkey) and manage event calendar using Tripleseat software
Manage and create profiles on online RFP and lead referral sites, such as HotelPlanner, CVENT, Wedding Wire, and The Knot
Proactively reach out to clients to provide them with pricing and availability
Create/send/secure proposals for SMERF clients
Maintain an open line of communication with management for large buyouts or group bookings
Follow up with clients post-stay/post-event
Prepare, send and collect payment from groups in a timely manner
Work with the GM, Operations Manager, Front Office Manager and Director of Sales to relay important information regarding groups or SMERF accounts that pertain to each department
Follow up with prospective clients in a timely manner
Participates in weekly sales meetings
Attend networking functions as needed
Participate in hosting booths at wedding expos
Other duties as assigned by Director of Sales and Regional Director of Sales
Catering & Events (If Applicable)
Create social group event orders that detail all facets of the group coming in
Greet clients at the start of a meeting or event
Role Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required
1 – 3 years of sales experience preferred
Some hotel experience preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional customer service and professional demeanor
Outgoing and friendly personality

Revenue of hotel in relation to budget
Quality & quantity of new business acquired
General organization of sales operations
