Overview
The New York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA) is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Communications Associate to support and enhance our internal and external communications efforts. This dynamic position requires a creative, strategic individual with strong writing, design, and social media skills. The Communications Associate will help build and maintain relationships with members, promote advocacy efforts, and support NYSTLA’s mission to protect and preserve the rights of individuals and families.

Description

Assist with day-to-day member communications, including organizational updates and monitoring and analyzing media coverage

Develop and execute social media strategies across multiple platforms

Draft press releases and memoranda

Support broader public relations efforts by contributing to messaging strategy, campaign planning, and creative brainstorming

Comfortable picking up the phone to build relationships, coordinate with partners, and keep projects moving, while staying highly organized across multiple workstreams and deadlines

Assist with event planning and execution: must have strong excel skills

Early‑career professional or postgraduate with a demonstrated interest in communications and public affairs

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Thrives in a fast‑paced environment, able to juggle multiple priorities, respond quickly to breaking developments, and execute under tight deadlines
