Position Summary

The Education Studies Department (EDST) seeks a pool of qualified candidates to fill periodic vacancies for Practicum Supervisors. Practicum Supervisors provide individual and group coaching and feedback on lesson planning and instruction for teacher candidates in the UOTeach licensure and master’s program during practicum and student teaching experiences. Positions are limited‑duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years. Appointment level varies based on supervisory load. Hours vary depending on the schedules of students under supervision. Travel to local K‑12 schools and the University of Oregon is required.
Practicum supervisors provide supervision of practicum students in:
Elementary and middle/high teacher licensure programs that include an ESOL endorsement
Stand‑alone ESOL programs
Reading programs
Minimum Requirements

Master’s degree in education or related field.
Current or previous elementary or middle/high license in Oregon or another state or Canada.
Two years of teaching experience at your appropriate level (elementary or middle/high) and/or content area (e.g., social studies, math, science, world languages).
For stand‑alone ESOL program: demonstrable experience teaching English language learners.
For Reading program: reading endorsement and successful experience in reading instruction.
Professional Competencies

Potential to contribute positively to a diverse community and to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent communication skills that enhance community relations and support student training.
Problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of multicultural education, social and cultural foundations of education, and the ability to work successfully with diverse populations.
Familiarity with hands‑on, engaging pedagogy that invites a critical understanding of the world.
