The Communications Specialist provides graphic design expertise and visual communication counsel/support for the development and execution of effective plans to communicate with co-workers, customers and other stakeholders. The Communications Specialist is a communications professional with experience and knowledge of all communications challenges and platforms. This person is expected to support client relationships, which enables them to become strategic partners. This position reports to the Manager, Nuclear Communications.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or related field required

Required Qualifications:

Three or more years of professional communication experience with an understanding of communications production techniques, including writing for print as well as video and graphic design required.
Experience in the utility business or heavy industry with field employees preferred.
Three or more years of practical work experience, demonstrating proficiency in many of the following required: Adobe Creative Cloud (including InDesign, Photoshop), iMovie, Microsoft PowerPoint, Publisher, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and Access.

Preferred Qualifications:
Possess a contemporary understanding of the evolving communications landscape, channels, and audience
Possess an understanding of the intended audience(s) and an aptitude for effective communications
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to create engaging content
Creative visual storytelling skills (i.e. Info graphics, digital signage, video graphics and web graphics)
Strong understanding and working knowledge of digital platforms and content management systems
Ability to plan and manage communication projects. Effective consultative skills. Proven ability to work collaboratively on communications teams
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to interact effectively and build credibility/rapport with co-workers at all levels of the organization
A portfolio of design and visual communication examples is appreciated

Job Duties:
Partner with Callaway leadership to support Callaway's communications needs
Assist in implementing strategic communications plans that help to achieve company goals and objectives
Help ensure plans are executed on time, on budget and effectively to meet goals
Research, develop and edit content and design for print and digital channels
Develop and manage Callaway's digital signage network
Provide counsel/support to leadership at all levels and serve as visual and written content developer on individual projects and team assignments
Advise and develop messaging to build understanding of the company's position and goals
Ensure that company messaging is consistent and communicated effectively
Work with the Corporate Communications team when needed for collaborative assistance in executing plans or communicating with specific stakeholder audiences in earned and owned channels
Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties in accordance with Callaway Energy Center Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP) including responding to assigned ERO facilities within the required RERP response time
Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear energy center
