Responsibilities
Develop, plan, and implement the Annual Marketing Plan and Budget, including research data, SWOT, center goals and objectives, strategies and tactics in consultation with national retail leadership, management and leasing.
Manage the shopping center marketing budget to fully utilize tenant, landlord, and alternative contributions to maximize property traffic and sales.
Work with the national retail team to implement corporate brand marketing, policies, procedures, programs, and initiatives at the field level.
Plan and direct advertising, public relations, special events, sales promotions, community programming, and retailer relations activities for the center.
Oversee and coordinate center events, including communication and negotiations with participants, contract preparation, facilitation, on‑site oversight, and compiling event recaps.
Collaborate with the national retail team to achieve client‑driven property goals and objectives in line with the center’s business plan.
Manage tenant relations programs, supporting tenant retention through merchandising and promotional initiatives; review monthly sales reports to ensure a thorough knowledge of retailer sales and track key retailer and category trends.
Attend community, merchant, staff and city meetings, and represent the center and Avison Young professionally in the community.
Drive growth and engagement of digital media programs, including social media, web, e‑mail, and mobile.
Communicate effectively with staff, tenants, public, national retail leaders, and ownership as needed.
Review and approve invoices for marketing expenses and adhere to budget guidelines.
Secure cash sponsorship of special events and community programs, and find innovative ways to generate additional income for the marketing budget.
Review and prepare a monthly report of results and accomplishments, including PR, advertising, event programming/activations, digital/social results, sales, merchant relations, community relations and budget variances, with seasonal ROI and KPI tracking.
Supervise the selection and operation of seasonal décor in collaboration with the property manager and national retail team.
Monitor common area and customer journey/experience and collaborate with property management and operations on day‑to‑day experience for guests.
Partner with the leasing and specialty leasing teams to support their leasing efforts by compiling relevant information and assets, including property photography.
Work extended hours, including weekends, as necessary to achieve desired results for the property.
Supervise all other aspects of marketing as required.
Base Salary
The base salary is aligned with market data and is estimated between $98,000 to $100,200, with the ability to achieve additional compensation through a bonus program. This range reflects base compensation for the position across all U.S. locations; individual pay is determined by work location and other factors including relevant education, experience, and internal equity.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations or a related discipline, plus a minimum of five years’ experience in marketing, special events, communications or a related field, preferably within the shopping center industry.
Previous management experience.
Proven track record of innovation and creativity, excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities under pressure.
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with desktop, graphics, and presentation software and technology.
