Marketing Manager
The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing a strategic marketing plan for the assigned shopping center.
Responsibilities
Develops, plans, and implements Annual Marketing Plan and Budget, including research data, SWOT, center goals and objectives, strategies and tactics in consultation with national retail leadership, management and leasing.
Manages the shopping center marketing budget to fully utilize tenant, landlord, and alternative contributions to maximize property traffic and sales.
Works with the national retail team to implement corporate brand marketing, policies, procedures, programs, and initiatives at the field level.
Plans and directs the advertising, public relations, special events, sales promotions, community programming, and retailer relations activities for the center.
Oversees and coordinates center events. Event responsibilities include communication and negotiations with event participants, preparing contracts, facilitating event implementation, being on-site to oversee center events and compiling event recaps.
Collaborates with the national retail team to achieve appropriate client-driven property goals and objectives in line with the center’s business plan.
Manages tenant relations program. Supports tenant retention by developing tenant merchandising and promotional initiatives. Reviews monthly sales reports to ensure a thorough knowledge of retailer sales; tracks key retailer and category trends.
Attends community, merchant, staff and city meetings & professionally represents the center and Avison Young in the community.
Manages and drives growth and engagement of digital media programs, including social media, web, e-mail, and mobile as applicable.
Communicates effectively with staff, tenants, public, national retail leaders, and ownership as needed or required.
Reviews and approves invoices for marketing expenses and adheres to budget guidelines.
Secures cash sponsorship of special events and community programs and finds innovative ways to generate additional income for the marketing budget.
Reviews and prepares a monthly report of results and accomplishments, including PR, advertising, event programming/activations, digital/social results, sales, merchant relations, community relations and budget variances, including seasonal ROI and KPI tracking.
Supervises the selection and operation of seasonal décor in collaboration with the property manager and national retail team.
Monitors common area and customer journey/experience and collaborates with property management and operations on day-to-day experience for guests.
Partners with the leasing and specialty leasing teams to support their leasing efforts by compiling relevant information and assets, including property photography.
Works extended hours, including weekends, as necessary to achieve the desired results for the property.
Supervises all other aspects of marketing as required.
Experience with desktop, graphics, and presentation software and technology.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations or related discipline, plus a minimum of five years experience in marketing, special events, communications or a related field, preferably within the Shopping Center Industry. Previous management experience.
Proven track record of innovation/creativity, excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities under pressure. Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with desktop, graphics, and presentation software and technology.
