POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Director at LJA Transportation, you will be responsible for leading and managing traffic impact studies, corridor analyses, signal timing optimization, and multimodal assessments.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE

  • Building relationships and growing business in the transportation sector
  • Developing business through marketing to existing clients and identifying new clients
  • Meeting with DOTs, cities, counties and local agencies for business development purposes
  • Managing project delivery aspects such as design calculations, plan preparation, and direction of traffic designs for TDOT and local government projects
  • Managing and maintaining project schedules and financial requirements
  • Using advanced techniques, theory, precepts and practices in a specialized engineering field and related sciences and disciplines
  • Interacting with clients and other consultants and having good communication skills
  • Exercising judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria

REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering is required
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Tennessee with ability to be licensed in other states
  • PTOE Certification (preferred)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 20+ years of experience with Microstation (or Open Roads) and TDOT procedures is a must
  • Experience with signal design, timing, intersection improvements, signing/striping, work zones, technology/ITS, traffic simulation/modeling, traffic studies, and roadway safety
  • Experience with various traffic software packages
  • Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis
  • Strong communication skills to interact with clients and internal employees
  • Ability to build strong relationships
